Strawberry Fields

Have you ever tried strawberries paired with goat cheese? It's delicious.

Slice them up and add goat cheese, then give it a light smash to get the juice from the berries a little mixed with the goat cheese. Throw it in some tupperware in the morning and let it sit for a few hours. Eat for a late breakfast or at lunch time. Delicious!

You can make a more full salad by adding romaine or butter lettuce, basil or watercress, and raspberry or balsamic vinaigrette.

Prom Queen

Oh, spring. A time of baby animals, blooming flowers, and bountiful farmers' markets. And the most important night in the course of a 17-year-old girl's high school career.

You Little Devil

The WASP-iest deviled egg recipe around! Dates back at least 3 generations on the Forbes side of my family. Want to find some Republicans in Berkeley, CA? Look no further than my uncles. My lovely uncles have been known to eat at least 5 of these each as a complement to a holiday meal, with seemingly no effect on their subsequent appetites! Magic.



Here is the method with tips and tricks:

-Hard boil a dozen- ish eggs but don’t overcook because then they will be grey
-Peel, slice in half (the older the eggs the easier they are to peel, a sharp knife works best)
-Pop out yolks- don’t cry if a couple are ugly shells, those are the ones the cook eats
-Beat yolks with mayo (Best Foods Original is preferred) in electric mixer, starting with a heaping tablespoon
-Add 2 teaspoons Del Monte Sweet Pickle Relish! Try to get mainly pickles not too much liquid on your spoon
-It’s blasphemous but you could add a TINY squirt of mustard just for color
-Add more mayo and a dash of relish till you get the right consistency
-Stuff eggs and sprinkle with paprika (if you are bringing them somewhere, you may stuff them prior to serving at your party)
-Sprinkle with paprika
-Serve on a deviled egg plate- a house is not a home without one!
-Get whatever dishes have egg on them soaking in water right away; that stuff turns to glue when it dries
-EAT

Del Monte Sweet Pickle Relish ONLY

I recommend an snazzy egg carrier like this one. I have
one that has different inserts for cupcakes, deviled
eggs, a fruit platter, etc. Love it!

Rainy Red Carpet

Oh heavens, it would be no fun to have a formal event fall on a rainy evening. However these ladies seem to have it all figured out- simply enlist the services of a tall and lanky dreamboat to hold your umbrella as you work the red carpet.





Preferably your dreamboat will be named Josh, but really beggars can't be choosers now can they?

An important question

Yesterday I was sitting at a red light bundled up in several layers of cashmere when my spinning thoughts suddenly lit upon a dire and crucial question:

Are maxi dresses still going to be in style for Spring 2010?

Ever the researcher, I have perused collections from Dior couture to H&M and I am happy to say the answer is YES.
